Change at Costco - Four Models Now Offered

More is always better for us consumers.
A word of caution about JABRA which makes fine audio devices but is still in a learning curve with H.A. I went through 4 failures in 2 years now have Phillips which was my first choice but got pushed into JABRA. All the reviews raved but they have some kinks as an electrical technician I believe the failures were software not hardware related. The sound was beautiful but speech was some what artificial. Philips speech is much more natural sounding.
Anyway thanks for the heads up on COSTCO’s selections

I’m another user with Sennheiser that replaced my KS9 set. I’ve also got the Rexton Reach, but I like the Sennheiser set more.

How so, because Jabra are rebranded ReSound models, which have been around for …like for ever, Jabra don’t make HAs they just sell them.

Yes that indeed is true but they are relatively new to producing H.A. Taking over a former product and then placing your engineering designs over resound is not as simple as it sounds
Their competitors have honed in their designs from decades of experience Perfecting complicated electronics and even more complicated software comes over time. I expect JABRA could one day be much better than they are now by learning from their failure analysis results.
As an electronic specialist in R&D I admit being taken in by COSTCO sales rep and glowing recommendations on line when debating for my original choice of Phillips which is what I use today. If I had stuck with what I instinctively felt about about Phillips versus JABRA two years of miserable hassles could have been avoided.
In summary this does not mean JABRA will not work for others but for me 4 failures was not a pleasant experience.

It’s pretty certain that the factory puts a ReSound cover on some HAs and a Jabra cover on others. That doesn’t take a lot of resources or ingenuity.

I’m sure it’s not, but my point is Jabra have done nothing but stamp their name on the casing and a lot marketing blurb, the Jabra are exactly the same as ReSound Nexia, nothing has changed but the name.

At first glance, this would seem bad for the lifespan of the Sennheisers. However, given so many Costco patients in a Phonak (from KS9/10 - so used to the sound) and the made for all connectivity, I would think that Costco will go back to having that on offer? There was 4 before the KS10s got discontinued. Maybe they are trying to see if the Sennheiser can hold its own against all 3.

I understand because it does sound simple. But in the world of micro electronics and coding the devil is in the details. You see JABRA engineering placed improvements and features and as I stated JABRA makes incredible audio devices but HA is a new wing of JABRA technology. The good news is improvements are just a few steps away and manufacturing recipes will be honed.
For instance the world wide company I retired from employed a system of manufacturing called 6 sigma allowing only 3.4 defects per 1 million produced. That is what alarmed me with my JABRA experiences 4 failures in 2 years is outrageous for just one consumer to experience. As stated this was my own personal event and everyone has different profiles programed into their devices, this is why I lean towards software issues being the root cause of the failures I had. Look they will improve and I my issues are not a rejection of JABRA on the whole but they should have not happened, thanks for the reply and wish you good health.

As a technical specialist I can tell you micro electronics and mechanical designs, and coding are anything but simple. This was my personal experience and JABRA has produced many fine audio devices so I am not rejecting or promoting just presenting what happen to me.

I don’t think you’re fully understanding. Jabra is not engineering or manufacturing hearing aids. GN Group (parent company of ReSound and Jabra) is developing and manufacturing the hearing aids. They look identical to me. Even the features between the two brands have the same names because they are the same electronics and use the same programming software.

ReSound Nexia hearing aids

Jabra Enhance Pro hearing aids

I understand why that seems so obvious however their are details that cannot be left out.
Mechanical, electrical and software designs are JABRA’s propriety property.
Micro circuitry and software are not something you can visualy ascertain or compare.
As stated my experience and actual occurrences are neither an endorsement now a critique, simply stating what I experienced and like any review there are always 3 side to a coin.
Thank you for the reply wishing you good health

I don’t think anybody is questioning your experience with Jabra hearing aids. What they’re questioning is the claim that Jabra is new to making hearing aids when the consensus is that they’re Resound aids with a Jabra name on them.

Have you looked at reports of problems with ReSound Nexias? If your conclusion were correct, there would be fewer reports of problems for Nexias than for Jabra Enhanced Pro 20s, adjusted for number of HAs in use or sold.

The fact is that these aids are the same internally. Jabra had nothing to do with development, hr or sw. If you look up the registrations of these you will find they are the same. Jabra is OWNED by GN. The same mothership. They use a different stencil. Search and replace on the documentation to the user. When you do the research you’ll see. Rexton is the same way (Signia). It is argued the Philips are the same hw but different sw to the same generation Oticon. Some of the features are directly analogous, some aren’t. Doggone good aids but still entirely produced by Demant.

Exactly correct - Jabra is a brand label applied to a Resound hearing aid by GN Audio before shipping to Costco.

This is simply a case of branding and protecting higher margins.

When Costco sells a hearing aid labeled Jabra, Sennheiser, Rexton, or Phillips, the much more expensive hearing aids from the same manufacturers labeled Resound, Phonak, Signia, or Oticon (Bernafon Encanta) are protected from price erosion.

The private audiologists sell one set of brands at higher pricing, while Costco sells another set of brands at much lower pricing from the same manufacturers, but protects the audiologists by offering different brand names.

When Jabra joined the GN Group, it did not simply place its logo on ReSound products without any engineering changes. Instead, the integration involved leveraging the combined expertise of both Jabra and ReSound to enhance their offerings.
The GN Group, which includes both ReSound and Jabra, focuses on creating intelligent audio solutions that combine medical and sound expertise. This integration allows for the development of innovative products that benefit from both Jabra’s consumer electronics expertise and ReSound’s hearing aid technology
The development of new products under the GN umbrella involves significant engineering and software changes. For example, Jabra Enhance Pro is the first hearing aid to connect to Bluetooth LE Audio and Auracast broadcast audio, showcasing advancements in connectivity and audio streaming
In summary, Jabra did not simply place its logo on ReSound products. Instead, the collaboration between Jabra and ReSound under the GN Group has led to the development of new, innovative products that leverage the strengths of both brands.

I believe whatever technical improvements are made for Jabra are also made for the Resound as they both are exactly the same except for name on the shell. One common production line except at the end where one hearing aid body goes to the left into a shell marked Resound Nexia and the one following goes to the right into a shell marked Jabra.

What a load of utter nonsense, you have absolutely no idea what your talking about, GN Group brought Jabra okay, they didn’t “join”

More nonsense, it’s the other way around. Jabra make headphones etc not HAs!

More nonsense, it was the other way around, Resound Nexia was first anyway Jabra firmware came a little later, but regardless your talking rubbish.

You just don’t get it do you, please show your source for this nonsense, oh don’t tell me, AI told you yeah…
