I’ve read a person here say they “preserved the bass” with “non-occlusive domes.” That seemed counterintuitive to me. Generally, a sealed ear enclosure enhances the bass.

With hearing aids, what is the relationship between “non-occlusive” and “preserving the bass.” What are the purposes and tradeoffs? Open domes vs. sealed domes? Bass heard from the outside vs. bass heard through the HAs?

I will leave that to others to fully explain, but for me the smaller the vent size then my audiologist has been able to add bass to my hearing aids by amplification. I am not noticing any issues with my on voice, maybe it is just I am getting use to it, also there are settings that my Audiologist has used to help prevent it. Honestly I having noticed that issues since my very first set of aids, and they have a large vent.

This just says someone with pretty good low frequency hearing can use open fit domes to continue to use their normal hearing to hear low frequencies.
