I bought a Noahlink Wireless, installed the latest Oticon Genie, and was able to connect my aids. The main thing I need to do is input my audiogram data to one of the aids which had been reset to defaults after getting it back from a warranty repair.

Can someone please give me basic instructions in how to set this audiogram data in Genie?

Also, why does Genie insist on showing the right aid on the left side of the screen, and the left aid on the right side? It drives me nuts.

Pretty sure this goes back to the practitioner looking at the patient. When you look at the patient, the left is on the right, and the right is on the left.

To input the the audiogramm start Genie 2 and create a client , then select Audiogramm

Below you can input the numbers for each frequency for AC, BC, UCL (fast and easy) , or klick with mouse into the diagram to set each frequency point.

I input the audiogram data (at least the air data, wasn’t sure what to do about the “bone conducted” data points – probably apply it to both aids but I left it alone).

It seems OK now. Usable. Has a bit more white noise / hiss in a quiet environment than the other one though. Not sure what to change for that.

Also, does anyone know how to disable the damnable Oticon startup sound?

go to End Fitting(1) and select Buttons & Indicators → Audible Indicators
then de-select Start-Up Jingle

For problems like “noise in quiet” you can use the Fitting Assistant in Genie 2.

Select Fitting (1) → More Tools (2) → Fitting Assistant (3)
Inside the Fitting Assistant (4) select
→ “Noise” → “General Noise” - “Soft ambient noise is to noticable in quiet”
Try the recomended Solution
5) Change MoreSound Intelligence setting from 0 to 2 for Both sides (L/R) by klicking the button BOTH

if this is not helping enough then try Additional solution
(6) Decrease gain for soft input level for all frequencies by 2 dB by klicking on the middle button BOTH if you want that for both sides, or you can perform only for Left or Right.

I’ve heard that oticon is easy to fit

i can not tell you, because i only fit me my hearing aids.
I’m no audi and not fitting patients in real life.
