It may well be that an audi preferring a particular brand simply means familiarity and that he is happier about getting the maximum benefit out of “his” brand
Unfortunately Costco is soon discontinuing the Recton RIC
*Rexton. A hearing aid by the makers of Phonak is expected to replace it.
Um-bongo has given you great information. He is one of the pros who helps so many on this forum.
As mentioned the cookie bite hearing loss can be more difficult to fit. Costco has some excellent filters but not all of them. If you have a difficult time with one fitter don’t hesitate to ask for another.
Good luck with your new aids.
A big “Thank You” to everyone who took the time to share their knowledge with me. I think I am better informed and expect I will have a better outcome, thanks to this group. Again, thank you.
I will be heading to my appointment soon. It is a 2 hour trip so I hope we get the setup “good” or better.
It’s been confirmed by WS Audiology that they will still be available, only not in all stores.
Well, I’m home. Followed the snowplow over the mountain and had a safe trip.
Have you ever seen a movie where someone is being very rude but has a big smile the whole time? That was my appointment.
I did try first the Rexton, then the Philips and then the Jabras. The Rexton and the Philips were both great. I walked around the check-out and listened to the people talk and I could understand them. Even people not very close, I could hear the words and understand them. A big halleluiah, woo hoo and yipee. I did the same with the Jabras and I could not understand the words. I could hear the noises and sounds but couldn’t make out the words. I choose the Rextons (with tulip tips. I had to ask him to bring me the different tips to try, he never offered ) as I can switch to Philips in the future but not the reverse.
I am looking forward to a much better sound life. These new HAs were so much better than my 7 year old ones. It truly is a revelation to hear so much more and with better comprehension. I will get the equipment and software to “play” with my HAs in the future. Thanks to everyone who shares so much knowledge and help to all in the community.
I have to wait 3 weeks before I actually get the Rextons. I will be reading and learning until then.
Congratulations! Glad to hear that things went so well in spite of a less-than-gracious HIS at Costco.
