GN Hearing: Unmatched Sound Quality – Efficient Fitting – Ground-breaking Remote Fine-Tuning

Announcing ReSound LiNX 3D™: GN Pioneers a New Hearing Care Experience

April 03, 2017 06:30 AM Eastern Daylight Time

COPENHAGEN, Denmark–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Today, GN Hearing unveiled the revolutionary ReSound LiNX 3D™, taking Smart Hearing to new levels to enable people with hearing loss to hear more, do more and be more anywhere in life.

GN Hearing’s comprehensive ecosystem seamlessly connects hearing aids, all wireless accessories and smartphone apps to make everything work together. With the introduction of ReSound LiNX 3D and the ReSound Smart Fit™ software, an entirely new hearing care experience is made possible. These breakthroughs are developed with audiological insights and the latest advancements in technology to bring more convenience and efficiency than ever before.

The new hearing care solution offers remote fine-tuning and remote hearing aid updates enabled by GN’s proprietary and secure cloud solution. After an initial fit in the clinic, the user can request assistance for any fine-tuning of their settings wherever they are. The hearing care professional can make all fine-tunings remotely to provide a better hearing experience for the user.

The new ReSound LiNX 3D and the corresponding Beltone Trust™ hearing aids and the new cloud integration offer unprecedented benefits to hearing aid users and to hearing care professionals across three key dimensions:

Sound Quality – hear more than you ever thought possible

With ReSound LiNX 3D – GN Hearing’s 5th generation 2.4 GHz wireless technology and 3rd generation binaural directionality – hearing aid users will experience excellent sound quality and will hear more than they ever thought possible. ReSound LiNX 3D delivers clear, natural sound, exceptional speech understanding and the best sense of where sounds are coming from. Users will experience 360-degree audibility and awareness in quiet and speech-only situations, improved hearing in noise when speech is in the front and optimized audibility of surrounding sounds.

Studies* show that compared to premium hearing aids from competitive brands, ReSound LiNX 3D:

• is up to 50% better at identifying speech across various environments
• enables users to hear up to 80% more of the sounds around them, and
• enables users to understand up to 40% more speech in noise

An enhanced fitting experience

Together with audiologists, GN Hearing has developed a more efficient and intuitive fitting software, which simplifies the process where the hearing care professional fits and adjusts the hearing aid to the user. This faster and more convenient wireless fitting will save time for both the user and the hearing care professional. This gives hearing care professionals more time for valuable user counselling. Also, a new app allows users to easily personalize and control their sound at any time on-the-go directly from a smartphone (iPhone, Apple Watch and selected Android models). The app empowers users to take even more control of their hearing experience through a built-in guidance and coaching feature, and gives users direct access to their hearing care professional for efficient optimization without the need for an appointment in a clinic.

Hearing care wherever you are

ReSound LiNX 3D is the only device with complete remote fine-tuning capabilities that allows users to stay in touch with their hearing care professional wherever they are, receiving hearing care and getting new settings via the cloud without having to schedule and travel for a clinic appointment. The unique cloud integration enables hearing care professionals to stay connected with users no matter where they are. Users will be able to share feedback about any hearing difficulty as the situation occurs, rather than trying to remember how to describe it during an adjustment visit to the clinic. Hearing care professionals will have the freedom to offer follow-up services remotely – saving time for both hearing care professionals and users, and creating opportunities for even higher user satisfaction.

“GN Hearing is thrilled to introduce a quantum leap in sound technologies that will enable users to hear more than they ever thought possible. We are excited to deliver completely new dimensions in hearing care that all leads to a better hearing experience for the user and empowers the hearing care professional to better serve their clients. ReSound LiNX 3D transforms the hearing care industry, meets the modern user’s high demands for superb sound quality and fulfils our company purpose of making life sound better,” said Anders Hedegaard, CEO of GN Hearing.

ReSound LiNX 3D – and the corresponding Beltone Trust™ – will launch in all primary markets around the world with a full product family in the Top and Plus performance levels. GN Hearing’s 2017 guidance already included the ReSound LiNX 3D launch.

I bet many “hearing care professionals” will hate or not embrace the product.

Face it, we are a winy lot – at least many are. That customer will overload support.

Those HCPs that aren’t among the best will complain they are overworked already and don’t want the customer minutes away from requesting a change.

If those claims are true, we all should throw our aids and get those 3D. It seems like exagerrated claim

I am skeptical too- within all of this marketing gibberish, I don’t see any “substance” to this claim.

Doesn’t sound much different that the OPN claims. Look back at any brand for several models and the claims parallel today’s hype.

The main take-away I see from this is the remote programming capability. All the other claims will sort themselves out eventually when actual users will have the chance to try it out to confirm or discredit them.

What I’m hoping for is that the remote programming capability doesn’t need to be done “live”, with the HCP and the patient be connected at the same time via a scheduled appointment, even though it’s not face to face. That would not help reduce the workload of the HCP. What I’m hoping for is that the patient can simply email the HCP to communicate the desired changes, and the HCP would make the changes by themselves without the patient waiting live on the other end. Once the changes have been made, the HCP would just email the patient that the new setting is ready to be downloaded, and the patient simple download and install it on the HAs then try it out.

If it can be done like that, it truly is going to be game changing as far as the ease of fitting can become.

I’m afraid it will be the former not the latter as that puts the adjustment control out of the reach of the Audiologist, BUT it makes for a really interesting quandry for Resound, especially given their recent stance on Web based sales.

The audiologist could have a web clinic once or twice a week and book appointments just like any other clinic. It would be good for all those people who live a long way from the clinic or who find it a big ordeal to leave their home due to mobility issues.

• is up to 50% better at identifying speech across various environments
• enables users to hear up to 80% more of the sounds around them, and
• enables users to understand up to 40% more speech in noise

Pretty bold statement but it says little

one can achieve 50% better at identifying by getting new glasses (while id speech it says nothing about clarity)

enables users to hear up to 80% more of the sounds around them, who cares if it is 80% is just noise

enables users to understand up to 40% more speech in noise just seems impossible and says little about noise levels.

While this remote adjustment ability may be big news for Resound going forward - there is nothing tangible here that makes me think I will HEAR SPEECH any better with these than with the Linx2. In fact, the “% Better” claims sound a little familiar.

Well, it is a great product for online clinics/sites to more easily market /support. Buyhear must be excited. It should ease support for such businesses. I’ll give credit to Resound for opening the market further. I’d don’t see other premium brands rushing to compete. That would destroy their relationship with premium minded clinics.

Does this signal a “marketing channel” change for them? I had always understood they were averse to that.

It certainly makes it easier for companies like Buyhear. They must send out a kit for other aids. That kit is supposed to be sent back and forth but some here are holding onto them for longer periods. That increases their cost.

Compare that to using the cloud. Now added equipment required. Customer can get an adjustment any time without the need to have the kit shipped to them.

Looks like a win-win for that channel.

Sure its not a late April fools joke

Hearing 3D ? That a visual term.

I know you eat with your eyes, i have never heard (pun intended) of eyes being able to hear.

Maybe it all tru, you never know. Only time will tell.

My take on it and the hype / spin is.
If Linx was a 50% improvement on Verso, and Cala is improvement on Linx, now 3D is 50% better than Link.
Then anything before the Verso could only have been a cork or an ear trumpet. Certainly it could never have actually heard anything.

I see Resound has now released the iPhone app for this aid. Has anyone actually bought these aids? Or is it still just an announcement?

Seems like they are available as are listed on Interestingly, they are less expensive than the Linx2s and at least currently claim to have manufacturer’s warranty!

I stand corrected.
apparently 3D is also an audio term, here is just a short extract from Wikipiedia

3-D audio (processing) is the spatial domain convolution of sound waves using Head-related transfer functions. It is the phenomenon of transforming sound waves (using head-related transfer function or HRTF filters and cross talk cancellation techniques) to mimic natural sounds waves, which emanate from a point in a 3-D space. It allows trickery of the brain using the ears and auditory nerves, pretending to place different sounds in different 3-D locations upon hearing the sounds, even though the sounds may just be produced from just 2 speakers (dissimilar to surround sound). [

Using head-related transfer functions and reverberation, the changes of sound on its way from the source (including reflections from walls and floors) to the listener’s ear can be simulated. These effects include localization of sound sources behind, above and below the listener.

I don’t think people who have good hearing are all that good at locating sounds which are above or below them. If someone is calling down from a balcony they will often say “I’m up here” without that information people will often look left and right unable to locate the sound.

yeah like an 360° arc I would assume @3D , just another word of saying it.

Does anyone know if i could programme these with Resound Aventa 3.10.

I spoke to a Costco Audi and she said she thought i would have to upgrade to Aventa 4? Can seen to find Aventa 4 anywhere?
